On behalf of the three stalwart employees here at the corporate offices of alittlestrongereveryday.com (me, myself, and I), I want to wish you, my faithful readers and friends, a Merry Christmas.
My favorite part of the Christmas story is when the angel said to Joseph, “Do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit. And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:20-21)
He will save his people from their sins.
Aren’t you thankful that we now come to God through a person rather than a procedure?
That Old Testament procedure of 613 laws (365 ‘thou shalt nots’ and 248 ‘thou shalts’) was a heavy, heavy burden that we don’t have to worry about. Paul said, “The law was designed to last only until the coming of the child who was promised.” (Galatians 3:19)
Whatever else you celebrate this Christmas, don’t forget the person who changed everything.
Marilyn and I will be on a road trip to Illinois starting Christmas day. We’ll have Christmas music playing in the car, snacks to munch on, and eagle eyes watching for any kind of restaurant that is open. (Thank you, Waffle House, for always being there for Christmas travelers.) After a few days with our parents, we’ll make our way back to Florida and gear up for another exciting year–our 25th–at Poinciana Christian Church.
Wow. Twenty-five years as pastor of the same church, and it’s still standing.
And people wonder if there are miracles.
Thank you, Jesus.
